Lecture + Demo
Demo Lecture
Inspiting, Interactive, Experiential
Demo Lecture is an in-person interactive lecture and experiential demos on Wonders and Illusions of Mind & AI. It gives a helicopter view as well as may include focused topics that are needed for GenZ to flourish in their AI-filled future. Limited to availability of experts and volunteers in your area.
Topic: Outsmarting Illusions of Mind and AI
Speaker: Dr. Ashvin Radiya
Duration: 1.5 hrs
The brain is one of the most astonishing wonders of nature, a complex organ that orchestrates every thought, emotion, and action with its vast network of 86 billion neurons connected by 100 trillion synapses.
Our brains are more sophisticated than the most advanced supercomputers but it still needs to simplify information processing to make quick decisions in a complex world using mental shortcuts called heuristics. While these shortcuts are extremely ingenuous and overwhelmingly helpful, they can also lead to systematic errors in judgment and decision-making, commonly known as cognitive biases (illusions).
In this interactive demo lecture, we will explore fun sensory and cognitive illusions along with heuristics and related structures and mechanisms in the brain. Not only our brains are illusory but AI systems are hallucinatory, adding fuel to fire in our AI-filled future! We will bring to light the impact of these illusions at the Individual, group and societal levels with some help from the audience.
Outsmarting these illusions of mind and AI is essential for all, especially for our GenZ. We will explore mindfulness as a powerful non-reactive observation tool and critical thinking as a mitigating tool to help us make better decisions and flourish in life!
Optional activities after the demo lecture can bring more excitement and deeper understanding through hands-on experiments, group interactions, fun quiz and prizes.
